Module 1 - Stepping into the Dental Implant World
9am-3pm | 5 CE
- Acquire practical insights into treatment planning and anatomical considerations
- Grasp the basics of implant placement for straightforward cases
- Familiarize yourself with commonly used instruments, materials, and terminology in dental implant surgery
Instructor: Dr. Saeed Refaei, DDS
Module 2 - CBCT & Digital Dentistry Insights
9am - 3pm | 5 CE Hours | Hands-on
CBCT Technology and Principles
• Overview of CBCT: Key principles (FOV, resolution) that make CBCT essential for implant planning.
• Systematic Review Process: How to quickly assess a CBCT scan, focusing on anatomy, bone quality, and potential pathology.
Essential Anatomy and Errors
• Critical Anatomy for Implant Planning: Maxillary sinus, inferior alveolar nerve, and other vital structures.
• Common Anatomy-Related Errors: Mistakes in identifying anatomical landmarks and how to avoid them.
Recognizing and Managing Pathology
• Pathologies That Affect Implant Planning: Recognizing periapical lesions, maxillary sinus issues, and others.
• When and How to Modify Implant Plans: Guidelines on managing pathologies in the context of implant surgery.
Clinically Correct Cross Sections and Prosthetic Considerations
• Importance of Cross-Sections: How cross-sectional views aid in positioning implants correctly.
• Prosthetically Driven Implant Placement: Aligning implant positioning with planned prosthetics and occlusion.
• Common Errors: Consequences of ignoring prosthetic-driven placement, such as implant malposition and poor load distribution.
Bone Density and Other Key Considerations
• Assessing Bone Density with CBCT: Understanding bone quality for implant stability (D1-D4 bone types).
• Bone Density and Implant Strategy: How bone quality influences implant size, placement, and loading protocols.
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
• Utilizing clinical assessments, 2D and 3D imaging for implant treatment planning
Hands-on:
Practice manipulations, identifying landmarks and tracing the nerve on a CBCT scan
Instructors: Dr. Elnaz Jalali, Radiologist, Dr. Saeed Refaei, DDS
